Llandy­sul lose ground

LLANDY­SUL lost ground in the South Wales Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion di­vi­sion one cham­pi­onship race after a 15-run de­feat at the hands of fel­low ti­tle as­pi­rants Tata Steel.

The Port Tal­bot side lost their first two wick­ets for 15 runs, but Kelvin Bar­tle (26), Nathan Fer­rell (39) and wick­et­keeper Richard Jones (46) stead­ied the ship to en­able them to reach 153-8 in 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Ash­leigh Cox re­turned fig­ures of 4-14 in 10 overs.

In re­ply, Llandy­sul wick­ets fell at reg­u­lar in­ter­vals and at one stage they tot­tered on 28-5 be­fore Hugo Laing at No. 7 made 35 and No. 8 Luke Swift con­tributed 40. But the Teifisider­s were bowled out for 138 in the 48th over.

After ex­celling with the bat, Fer­rell took 3-16 in nine overs as his side banked 18 points. There were seven points for Llandy­sul.

Llandy­sul Sec­onds fared bet­ter in di­vi­sion five with a twow­icket win at Mum­bles A.

The Swansea side were dismissed for 136 in 39.2 overs as Dafydd Hart­ley, Rhys Jones, Daniel Thomas and Car­wyn Jones picked up two wick­ets apiece. Llandy­sul reached the tar­get in the 37th over.
