Raiders still eye first win

WEST Wales Raiders went down 58-12 to Work­ing­ton Town at Ste­bon­heath in rugby league’s Bet­fred League 1.

The Raiders pro­duced a valiant ef­fort but re­main with­out a win this sea­son. They travel to London Sko­lars on Satur­day.

The vis­i­tors scored 12 points in the open­ing 12 min­utes as Gor­don Maudling and Fui­fui Moimoi crossed. Both tries were con­verted by Carl For­ber.

They added three more tries be­fore the break as Sean Penky­wicz, Perry Sin­gle­ton and Stevie Sc­ho­ley crossed to es­tab­lish a 28-0 lead.

Ryan Field­house added to their lead be­fore the Raiders got on the board thanks to a Phil Cow­burn try. He also con­verted.

Any hope of a come­back was put to bed as Work­ing­ton grabbed three tries via Declan O’Don­nell, Sam Hop­kins and Oliver Wilkes.

The Raiders grabbed another try as David Evans scored for Cow­burn to con­vert. But Work­ing­ton had the last word thanks to a Blain Mar­wood try.
