Raiders still eye first win

WEST Wales Raiders went down 58-12 to Workington Town at Stebonheath in rugby league’s Betfred League 1.

The Raiders produced a valiant effort but remain without a win this season. They travel to London Skolars on Saturday.

The visitors scored 12 points in the opening 12 minutes as Gordon Maudling and Fuifui Moimoi crossed. Both tries were converted by Carl Forber.

They added three more tries before the break as Sean Penkywicz, Perry Singleton and Stevie Scholey crossed to establish a 28-0 lead.

Ryan Fieldhouse added to their lead before the Raiders got on the board thanks to a Phil Cowburn try. He also converted.

Any hope of a comeback was put to bed as Workington grabbed three tries via Declan O’Donnell, Sam Hopkins and Oliver Wilkes.

The Raiders grabbed another try as David Evans scored for Cowburn to convert. But Workington had the last word thanks to a Blain Marwood try.
