Bus service reshuffle

-

I RESIDE in an area of the Bryn, Llanelli. I do not own a car.

As of June 16, First Cymru will be axing the L4 service, which passes my home, and I used to catch that bus very often.

Just to make readers aware, the L4 bus service links residents from areas of Pontarddulais, Llangennech, Bryn to Pemberton and Trostre retail parks then onward to Llanelli town centre.

The L4 service was supposed to run once an hour, but the frequency rarely did!

The L4 has been axed and the current L3 will continue.

The L3 links Pontarddulais, Llangennech, Bryn to Prince Philip Hospital then onward to Llanelli town centre.

So as a result of the L4 being axed, the residents of the foresaid will now have to commute to Llanelli town centre first, then catch a connection to get a bus to take them to the retail parks of Trostre and Pemberton.

Then the opposite journey will have to occur for them to get home, using the L3 service, which is proposed to run once an hour.

So a simple journey from Bont to Trostre, which could have been made within an hour using the L4 service, will now probably double or even treble in time.

How are older members of the community going to manage with the reshuffle? This may become a day outing for them! However, residents of Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Burry Port can catch the X11 with two connections every hour direct to Trostre Retail Park, and the same to get home. Is this called serving the local community?

Thanks First Cymru.
