Meeting to set up People’s Park residents group

Llanelli Star - - LETTERS -

A LLANELLI councillor has called a public meeting to explore the possibility of setting up a residents group to give local people a say on the decisions made regarding the future development of the town’s historic People’s Park.

The running of People’s Park amid the iconic setting of Llanelli Town Hall has now been taken over by Llanelli Town Council.

Cllr Siôn Davies, who represents the Elli Ward, said: “Many residents tell me they have concerns about littering and general upkeep in the park.

“As one of the local ward town councillors, I want to involve residents in the running of the park.

“I’m organising a public meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 6pm in Llanelli Town Hall.

“Residents can come and raise any concerns and have their say on the way People’s Park is run.”

The running of People’s Park, which includes Llanelli Town Hall, the bandstand, skate park and paddling pool, was recently transferred from Carmarthenshire County Council to Llanelli Town Council.

New improvement works are already planned for the park, including the removal of graffiti, refurbishment of the changing rooms and re-laying of the bowling green.
