Food item donations To assist local residents in need of support a food donations bank has been placed in the foyer of the Memorial Hall. Contributi­ons gratefully received during opening hours. FFRINDIAU of Felinfoel (Friends of Felinfoel) donated a cheque of £1,000 to Wales Air Ambulance. Stalls include cakes, books, jewellery, bric-a-brac, clothes, toys, tombola etc. Please come along and support St Mary’s and pick up a bargain at the same time. Pembrey and Burry Port WI This is on Tuesday at 2pm in Jerusalem Chapel vestry. The speaker is Ian Goddard on From Fleece to Rugs. The competitio­n is a knitted or crochet item. The WI meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. New members welcome.

Free heritage tours These walking tours are every Wednesday morning until September 25 at 10.30am from Café Lolfa, Stepney Road. Enquiries to 07946 583110. Singing For the Soul The next one is today and they are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 2.30pm and 4.30pm in Jerusalem Chapel vestry. Group singing has a host of benefits like improving breathing, posture, mental health, confidence and self-esteem. No experience necessary. Cost £3 per session to include refreshmen­ts. Vintage day The Animal Lifeline Wales charity shop (next to the vets) is holding a vintage day on Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm. On sale will be vintage and vintagesty­le clothes and accessorie­s, jewellery, linens, records, books and bric-a-brac.All proceeds to the registered animal charity. Litter pick The Pembrey and Burry Port Grab and Bag volunteer group will be meeting at the rugby club area opposite the clubhouse on Friday, June 28 from 10am to noon. All equipment is provided but please be sure to bring a pair of gloves. As well as cleaning up our local areas volunteers can also sign up to receive time credits. NAAFI coffee morning This is in the Royal British Legion on July 5 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It is for combined forces members and family to attend. Also for blue light service members too.

Car boot sales These continue every Saturday, weather permitting, at the harbour field, Burry Port, at £6 per car, vans, cars with trailers, campervan and people carrier size cost £9. Large vans and trade sellers are £16. No more than two tables or additional tables are £2 each. No reservatio­n of pitches as they are on a first come first served basis. Please do not set up or arrive before 7am for the benefit of volunteers and nearby houses. Please remove all unsold items and litter before you leave.

Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care The Pembrey and Burry Port friends have a Meet with Us group on the first Tuesday of the month from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in Pembrey Church Hall, Randell Square, Pembrey. Come along and meet our friends group for a cuppa, a chat and maybe join our volunteer list and help us put the fun in fundraisin­g. Refreshmen­ts and a raffle available. Ty Golau Group This is a health and wellbeing group for people with slight memory problems, Alzheimer’s/dementia-type illnesses and meets every Wednesday at Mynyddygar­reg Community Hall from 10.30am to noon.Activities include reminiscen­ce therapy, themed quizzes, singalongs, simple cookery and much more. Cefn Sidan U3A Meetings in June include tomorrow, the luncheon club are at the Forest Arms, Brechfa – meet in the car park at noon. Friday, the cycle group meet at the harbour entrance by the blue mussels at 10.30am. Monday, the drama group is at 2.15pm. Tuesday is the Silver Screen cinema trip via the 10.50am bus. Wednesday, June 26, at 9am the long walk group is going to Dan yr Ogof Caves. Thursday, June 27, at 11.10am the first topic for the Discussion group at Peter’s is Resit Driving Test at Age? There is Welsh conversati­on every Friday afternoon at 2pm. Most meetings usually take place in the Memorial Hall annexe, plus various other venues as on the monthly schedule.
