Emlyn build up for a busy period

EXCITEMENT is building at Costcutter League club Newcastle Emlyn FC.

Pre-season training is starting next week, there is the formation of a youth team to look forward to as well as a gala dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversar­y of the club reforming in 1969.

There was more good news for the Reds with highly-respected player-manager Owain Thomas confirming that he will again be in charge next season.

He will be assisted by Wyn Morgan.

The club are still to appoint a reserve-team manager.

Emlyn are forming an under-18 side for next season to play in the West Wales Youth League.

Pre-season training at Parc Emlyn starts next Tuesday (June 25) at 7pm when a warm welcome will be extended to old and new players.

The 50th anniversar­y events are being held this Saturday with games played during the day involving the current senior squad, juniors and past players.

At the gala dinner in the clubhouse, the guest speaker is Michael Davies, a former player and Aberystwyt­h Town winger who is headmaster of Ysgol y Preseli in Crymych.

The MC is radio personalit­y and DJ Tommo Thomas of Cardigan and entertainm­ent is provided by Colin Price.
