New faces star in relay for TROTS

NEW members from Taf Running and Orienteeri­ng Club starred on the unique Castles Relay, a race completed in 20 stages from Caernarfon to Cardiff.

With almost half the team taking on this event for the first time, TROTS finished 40th of the 64 teams from all over the UK.

Luke Evans, not only a newcomer to the club but at 18 the youngest member of the team, justified his place with the club’s highest placing of 15th on the 11.2-mile stage from Llanbadarn Fynydd to Crossgates in Powys.

Another new club member, Steve Dawson, took over on the following stage to Builth Wells and recorded the club’s only other top-20 placing with an excellent 19th.

Jonathan Williams completed the Man v Horse Marathon at Llanwyrtyd Wells.

His daughter Alys, together with club-mates Yvonne Davies and Janette Jenkins, completed the tough course as a relay team.
