Llanelli Star

Changes part of act

-

I WOULD like to comment on the comments of the new non-political party in control of Llanelli Town Council as reported in Llanelli Star of June 19.

The changes which they say the town council propose to bring in are not by choice of the town council.

These changes are Mandatory under the New Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act 2014.

This act states that everyone in Wales has a right to well being the local councils have a mandatory duty to follow this act which is an independent voice and champion for people across Wales.

The Commissioner for Older People in Wales has produced a Booklet for Older People In Wales explaining the Social Services and Well Being Act and what town councils must do and how the community must have the opportunity to be involved in these decisions.
