CWM’S SKIPPER STAYS ON BOARD

-

CWMAMMAN United captain Gareth Howarth has pledged his future to the club.

Howarth was an inspirational leader last season as the Blues enjoyed the best campaign in their history, stringing together a sequence of superb results to clinch a sixth-place finish in division one of the Welsh League.

And the skipper believes there is more to come as he prepares to lead Cwmamman in the new FAW Championship South.

He said: “I’m looking forward to the next chapter with Cwm, working to help push the club forward.”

Howarth is one of a number of players to have re-signed for the club for the new campaign.

Among them is dangerous attacker Ryan Hurlow, who crowned a fine season by picking up the supporters’ player of the year award.

And Ashley Johns, a big part of the club’s rise to the upper reaches of the Welsh League, is another to sign a new deal.

Other players to agree terms to stay at Grenig Park are Calem Rees and last season’s top scorer Ryan Thomas.

Last year’s player of the season Ross Morgan will look to scale the same heights as in his debut season at Cwmamman, while the club have also secured the services of frontman Luke Williams, who played age-grade football for Wales and was with Swansea City until he was 18.

Cwmamman will face local rivals Llanelli Town and Ammanford in the new Championship South, while there will be many other familiar faces in opposition as old rivals such as Afan Lido, Briton Ferry Llansawel, Haverfordwest County and Cwmbran Celtic are also part of the 16team division.
