Abba Night On Saturday, October 19, the London West End Denmark Street Band and singers return to Pontyberem Memorial Hall to render the hits of Abba on stage. Tickets for table seating £20 per person, gallery seating at £10 per person. Show will start at 7.30pm followed by a disco until late. Early booking advised to avoid disappoint­ment. Tickets can be ordered over the phone via the Memorial Hall reception desk on 01269 871075. Memorial Hall annexe at 7pm. Visitors most welcome. Carnival events Starts on Friday with our music night at the harbour with the Bar Hounds and Steve Saint. Licensed bar and food. Entrance £5; children free. Gates open 6pm. On Saturday, Carnival Day, there is the Totally Tropical themed procession leaving Heol Dyfatty at noon going to the harbour where there is a fun fair, stalls, food and entertainm­ent in the main arena.Gates open at noon. Entry £3 and £1 children and OAPs. On Sunday there is a service and Songs of Praise in the marquee time to be advised. Band concert Burry Port Town Band presents an evening of Music from the Stage and Shows on Saturday, July 20, at 7pm in the Memorial Hall. Age Cymru Keep Fit This new keep fit class for people 50+has started at the Pensioners’ Annexe, Memorial Hall, and is on every Thursday from 10am to 11am. Volunteers needed Age Cymru Sir Gâr is looking for volunteers to help older people stay warm and save energy by installing radiator reflectors, nightlight­s, energysavi­ng lightbulbs and timer sockets in their homes. Why not make a difference and make someone feel more independen­t in their own home? Volunteeri­ng is flexible, giving up one hour a week or one day a week, you still make a difference.
