-

PONTARDDULAIS moved to within three points of the summit of division one of the South Wales Premier League summit after a three-wicket win at leaders St Fagans.

It was only the second league defeat of the campaign for St Fagans and their first since early May.

The Cardiff side posted 189-9 off 50 overs after being put fin, with Dafydd Davies taking 3-17, Iestyn Rees 2-48 and Sam Pearce 2-33.

Bont were then in a sport of bother at 28-3 but 66 from Pearce plus 38 from Rhys Thomas and 21 not out by Jack Butler helped the visitors get the runs with three overs to spare.

Bont Seconds also enjoyed success with a six-wicket win at home to Swansea Seconds in the Premier League West 2nd XI championship.

Bowler Tomos Fowler, the sixth bowler used on the day by Bont, ended up with the superb figures of 6-44 as the St Helen’s team were dismissed for 145 in 40.3 overs.

The home side then fell to 8-2 but 30 from opener Ed Sivak and unbeaten knocks of 31 and 26 from Aled Richards and skipper Fowler respectively saw Bont ease to 148-4 in 33 overs.
