KIDWELLY BACK TO BEST FORM

The future of Llechryd Cricket Club appears to be in the best of hands if the enthusiasm coming from the junior section is any guide. More than 60 youngsters attend the weekly practice sessions at the Teifi Valley village ground where a number of exciting

IT is all back to normal for current Llanelli Bowling League champions Kidwelly Town after a busy week of matches.

On Wednesday evening they hosted nearest rivals Graig Merthyr at Parc Stephens, followed by a further home game against Gorseinon on Friday.

Saturday’s visit to Llanelli completed a week of victories producing a total of 36 league points, taking them out of reach of the chasing pack should their form continue.

Graig Merthyr and Gorseinon have two games in hand over the leaders but are well behind.

At the bottom of the division, Llanelli and Loughor are struggling to find any form and are already looking like relegation candidates.

Dafen Welfare and Brynhyfryd produced good results in division one with Dafen going back to the top. With Gowerton joining the chasing teams, one bad result could change everything as the league reaches the middle of the season.

In division two, Tybie are the only team with a 100 per cent record in the whole league. They are well placed in second spot with games in hand over leaders Cross Hands

Whilst the league continues this week, all eyes will be on the secondround matches in the National Club Championship. Loughor have an extremely difficult home match against much-fancied RTB Ebbw Vale, who have won the competition on three occasions and were runners-up last year.

Carmarthenshire’s other two remaining clubs, Carmarthen and Parc y Dre, meet at St Peter’s, guaranteeing a place for one local team in the third round.

Next week, starting on Monday evening, Carmarthen county competitions will be held every evening at Coedbach Park, Pontarddulais. Semi-final winners will represent the county at the national finals in Llandrindod Wells in August.
