Aled takes 53-mile ultra race all in his stride

A GROUP of runners from Taf Running and Orienteeri­ng (TROTS) took part in the 53-mile Race to the Kings ultramarat­hon from Arundel, Sussex, along the South Downs Way.

Aled Jones-Davies was the only TROTS runner who completed it all on one day, reaching the finish at Winchester in 10hrs 22 mins and placing 69th.

Those who completed the distance over two days were Richard Phillips (25th); Vincent Bailey (40th); Julian Lewis (41st); Yvonne Davies (138th); Jonathan Williams (162nd); and Sandra Williams (189th). The 24-mile option was completed by Simon Scurrell (2nd); Jim Dilks (4th); Alys Williams (9th) and Rebecca Dilks (13th).

Meanwhile, 17 TROTS runners took part in the Swansea Half Marathon. Llyr Roberts was the first from the club to complete the 13.1 miles in 1 hour 33 minutes in 276th place. Lindy Eynon was 3rd in her age category in a very competitiv­e field.
