Man ‘made teen watch him carry out sexual acts’
A MAN repeatedly made webcam calls to a teenager with cerebral palsy forcing her to watch him carry out a sex act on himself
Matthew Lee Thomas, appearing at Swansea Crown Court via videolink, pleaded guilty to sending malicious communications in May last year.
The court heard a teenage girl, who has cerebral palsy, received a Facebook message from Thomas, who simply said ‘Hi’.
He then invited her to a video call with him, which she accepted, and when his webcam became active, she saw him under the bedsheets, carrying out a sex act on himself.
She immediately hung up the call, and a short time later he called her back. She answered again, only this time he had removed the bed sheet and was carrying out the crude act in clear sight.
Two weeks later, the same girl received a video call from a profile set up under the name ‘ Sophie Price’.
She answered the call and it was Thomas doing the same thing again.
He was later interviewed by police and made no comment.
The 21-year-old, of no fixed abode, is currently serving a 10-year extended sentence comprising six years custody and a fouryear licence period.
This was after he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch a sexual act, possession and distribution of indecent images, and possession of extreme pornography in May this year.
Judge Paul Thomas, sentencing Thomas, said: “Last year you started talking to a girl with cerebral palsy and started carrying out a sex act on yourself.
“It is a matter of some regret this matter was not before me when you were sentenced to six years imprisonment with a fouryear licence period.
“I am issuing a concurrent sentence of eight months, and if there are other matters before this court it does not mean because I have not taken further action here that I won’t in the future.”
