School’s revamp opening

THE opening ceremony for the new-look Ysgol Pontyberem was held this week.

It is the latest school to be delivered through Carmarthen shire County Council’s Modernising Education Programme.

The £4 million full refurbishment was funded equally between Carmarthen shire County Council and Welsh Government through the 21st Century Schools initiative.

Work started in July 2017 and was completed in February 2019.

The £4 million investment included a total refurbishment and remodelling of the school including a new roof, floors and walls.

In addition the building underwent a full decorating programme.
