Russian dancers ready to step out at special Botanic Garden showcase

-

THE Karelians are coming to the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday for International Day of Dance.

Dancers and musicians from this north-eastern Russia territory with Finnish roots are always a popular and colourful attraction on this special day and this year will be joined by special guests Belly Fusion, a tribal dance collective from Worcestershire. Other troupes heading to the garden are Dawnswyr Talog, Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd, Dawnswyr Pen-y-Bont, Parti Dawns Aelwyd Aberystwyth, Dawnswyr Tipyn o Bopeth, Pembroke dancers and Garth Country dancers.

Organiser Bobbie Evans said: “It is fantastic news that Skylark and Artforge, from Karelia, are joining us again this year. There will be scores of dancers performing all different styles in different venues around the garden – it will be a lovely colourful occasion.”

The day will start with the parade up the Broadwalk followed by a mass dance in Millennium Square.
