Bryn WI In the July meeting, President Christine led the members in a minute’s silence, followed by the singing of Jerusalem, in memory of Marilyn Davies whose funeral took place last week. She will be much missed. Apologies were received from Joan M, Katherine, Christine J, Joan D, Una, Elvira, Marion and Jan G. Birthday greetings were given to Menna, whose birthday is in July, and Valmai, Jo and Marianne, all who have birthdays in August. It is hoped sugar craft and silk painting classes will be arranged in the autumn. More than 100 ladies will be attending the Illtyd Group Country and Western tea on July 16 at the Selwyn Samuel Centre. If last year’s event is anything to go by the then the ladies will have a very enjoyable time. Among the items noted in the County newsletter was a Federation weekend at Denman in 2020. Members will have the opportunity to sign up for this in September. Other upcoming events include the annual show on July 20, plus a trip to visit Bryn WI, Port Talbot and a Picnic and Pictures event at Park Howard, both in August. There was no speaker this evening.
