Memorial’s 10th event

THE 10th annual Jimmy James Memorial 7-a-side Football Tournament is held on Saturday at the School Field ground in St Dogmaels.

The tournament is in memory of talented player Jimmy James of Llangoedmor, who died tragically in March 2009 at the age of just 23.

He was a former St Dogmaels player, was capped for Wales at youth level, starred in the Welsh League with Newcastle Emlyn and at one stage was on the books of Manchester United.

Held under the auspices of the Central Wales Football Association, the event features 11 teams competing in a roundrobin format with two groups.

The teams include three from Costcutter League champions St Dogmaels and two from Newcastle Emlyn.

The football action gets under way at 1pm with a number of other attractions and refreshments.
