TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who died after falling from her bike on a race track.

Laura Davies, 39, who has three children, is said to have suffered serious head injuries in the afternoon crash at Pembrey Circuit in Carmarthenshire on Sunday.

But, despite being treated at the scene and being airlifted to hospital, Ms Davies later died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Pembrey Circuit near Llanelli issued a statement following Ms Davies’s death.

It said: “Pembrey Circuit wishes to expend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Laura Davies, who crashed during a motorcycle track day at Pembrey on Sunday afternoon.

“Laura was airlifted to Cardiff Hospital but succumbed to her injuries earlier today. Our thoughts are with her family at this terrible time.”

Phil Bevan Trackdays, which organised the race event, also paid tribute to the Yamaha R1 rider.

A statement said it was with an “extremely heavy heart” that it had learnt of Ms Davies’s death.

It added: “At 4.39pm, in the final intermediate session of the day, she fell from her R1 at Brooklands Hairpin, and suffered serious head injuries.

“She was immediately attended to by the Pembrey Medical Team and the Wales Air Ambulance summoned.

“She was then flown to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff at approx. 5.45pm.

“No other rider was involved in the incident.

“We, as the Phil Bevan Trackdays team, wish to pass on our sincere condolences to both the immediate family and friends at such a tragic time.

“We would also like to thank the medical team at Pembrey Circuit and University Hospital of Wales.”

No Limits Trackdays also extended its heartfelt condolences.

Its tribute said, in reference to her being airlifted to hospital: “In a twist of fate Laura, who was an avid rider, was also well known as an active supporter of that exact local air ambulance.”

A JustGiving fundraising page was set up after Ms Davies’s fall, and has so far raised more than £8,000.

The appeal said Laura, who is believed to have lived in Pembrokeshire, had recently raised a lot of money for the air ambulance in her area.

It described her as a “loved person.”

In further tributes to Ms Davies, Shaun Wynne said: “Very sorry this has happened. I know it must be a difficult time for the staff at Pembrey. My thoughts are with Laura and her family and you all at Pembrey at this difficult time.”

Bekki Docker said: “RIP Laura. Me and my family were at the track day on Sunday as my partner was riding in the same group as you.

“Me and my daughter were amazed by you. Deepest sympathies and love goes to your family. From what I’ve heard you were an amazing woman. Fly high sweet lady.”

Sarah Davies added her condolences on Facebook. She said: “Such sad news. My heart breaks for her family.

“My husband and I were at the track on Sunday. Laura has been on my mind since. Our deepest sympathies are sent to her family and friends.”

A spokesman for DyfedPowys Police said they were not involved in dealing with the incident.
