Unlocked door led police to huge cannabis haul
A DRUG grower led police straight to a massive haul of cannabis all because they forgot to lock the house.
Detectives were called to Gilbert Crescent, Llanelli on Friday night after a 101 call from worried locals noticing that the front door had been open for several hours.
Officers called out “police” as they entered – but received no reply. However, while inside, officers discovered a room full of cannabis plants as well as sophisticated growing equipment.
It is thought the haul is worth several thousands of pounds. Dyfed-Powys Police would not comment on whether the cannabis plants belong to a local dealer or whether they are linked to county lines gangs.
However, the force insisted it did not tolerate illegal drugs and an investigation was under way to bring those responsible to justice. A spokeswoman said: “Police in Llanelli were called to an address in Gilbert Crescent following concerns that a door had been left unsecured for several hours on Friday evening.
“On entry, officers found a number of cannabis plants in various stages of growth, as well as paraphernalia linked to cultivating cannabis.”
Forensic investigations have already been conducted at the property as well as door-to-door enquiries carried out.
“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the occupant,” added the spokeswoman.
Anyone able to help officers with their enquiries should contact DyfedPowys Police on 101 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
