The show on Saturday starts at 10am, presentati­ons of cups at 4pm. There is a £2 entrance fee. On Wednesday, July 31 Furnace WI’s monthly meal this month will be at Ruby’s. The next meeting will be on September 2. There will also be a coffee evening on September 25. The evening ended with a talk by Jennifer Thomas on the Bronte sisters’ lives and an insight into Jane Eyre. She gave a wonderful talk and really brought all the characters to life. Art and craft exhibition The annual exhibition and sale will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, Kidwelly, from Saturday to Saturday, August 3. The exhibition will be open on Saturdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 4pm, and between 2pm and 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Admission: Adults £2, concession­s £1.50 and under-12s free admission. A cream tea is included in the admission price.

Mynyddygar­reg Open Golf Tournament The 11th annual Mynyddygar­reg Open Golf Tournament was held recently in Glyn Abbey Golf Club. The main sponsor this year was Iwec. The lovely weather encouraged some good golf and the various winners were: Individual winner – Nigel Thomas; Team Winners – Mike Wilkins, Dai Germin, Bobby Sandow, Barrie Beynon; Nearest The Pin – Emlyn Dole; Longest Drive – Emyr Bowen. All the players enjoyed the wonderful meal prepared by Carol and her team in the golf club. The committee wish to thank everyone who supported the event. All eighteen holes were sponsored, money and raffle prizes donated and the time and help that various people gave on the day was greatly appreciate­d. The event raised over £1,586 for Ail Gyfle / Second Chance Cancer Appeal.
