Surprise loss for Gorseinon
GORSEINON suffered a surprise defeat by bottom club Panteg in South Wales Premier League 2.
The visitors claimed victory by 37 runs after Gorseinon’s top order crumbled chasing a victory target of 182.
Panteg batted first but were in all sorts of trouble at 39-5 as the home bowlers ran riot. But a crucial 72 by skipper James Reid steadied the ship as Panteg reached 181-9. Gafyn Donald took 2-29.
Gorseinon’s response got off to a dreadful start as they were reduced to 15-3, with Nishaanth Dalavaye and Greg Fisher out without scoring. The middle order rallied, with Christopher Morgan making 37 and Scott Thomas 33, but Gorseinon were all out for 144 in the 46th over. Christopher Mee took 5-34.
