Sur­prise loss for Gor­seinon

GOR­SEINON suf­fered a sur­prise de­feat by bot­tom club Pan­teg in South Wales Premier League 2.

The vis­i­tors claimed vic­tory by 37 runs af­ter Gor­seinon’s top or­der crum­bled chas­ing a vic­tory tar­get of 182.

Pan­teg bat­ted first but were in all sorts of trou­ble at 39-5 as the home bowlers ran riot. But a crucial 72 by skip­per James Reid stead­ied the ship as Pan­teg reached 181-9. Gafyn Don­ald took 2-29.

Gor­seinon’s re­sponse got off to a dread­ful start as they were re­duced to 15-3, with Nishaanth Dalavaye and Greg Fisher out with­out scor­ing. The mid­dle or­der ral­lied, with Christo­pher Morgan mak­ing 37 and Scott Thomas 33, but Gor­seinon were all out for 144 in the 46th over. Christo­pher Mee took 5-34.

Gor­seinon host New­bridge on Satur­day.
