Parks’ pools now open for splashing time this summer

-

THE paddling pools at Crown Park, Parc Howard and People’s Park have opened ready for the school summer holidays following maintenance work.

The pools – which are run by Llanelli Town Council – are free for the public to use and will be open daily (weather permitting) from 9am to 6pm, seven days a week until the end of the school summer holidays.

The splash pads at Havelock Park and Penyfan Park are already in operation and work on an automatic timer system from 10am to 7pm seven days a week.

The paddling pool in People’s Park had previously not been filled consistently since at least 2015. The paddling pool at Parc Howard had not been filled by Tuesday morning, but was scheduled to be filled by Tuesday afternoon.

Elli ward councillor Siôn Davies said: “I’ve campaigned since I was elected to get People’s Park paddling pool filled more consistently during the summer months.

“So it makes me really happy to say the pool will now be filled daily, meaning Llanelli families can come and have a splash about and enjoy the warm weather like I remember doing when I was a kid. I know this is something that’s hugely popular with residents with young children, so it’s great we can provide this service for them.”

Crown Park, Parc Howard and People’s Park paddling pools are situated next to children’s play areas.

Parents are reminded that children must not be left unattended and remain the responsibility of parents/guardians when using the pools.
