Easy victory pushes Llechryd closer to promotion
LLECHRYD took another step towards promotion from division two of the Pembroke County Cricket League when strolling to a ninewicket victory at Kilgetty.
The Teifisiders’ promotion hopes were further boosted when thirdplaced Hook lost against Pembroke Dock, giving the pacesetters a 69-point buffer over Hook.
Steve Curran and his team visit bottom side Cresselly Seconds this weekend. And after meeting Haverfordwest Seconds, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock, they bring the curtain down on their campaign with a home game against Narberth that could be for the title.
Even without a few unavailable regulars, Llechryd had things very much their own way as they dismissed Kilgetty for 81.
Kyle Marsh (26) and his brother Geoff (24) were the main contributors for Kilgetty, while seamers Graham Keen (4-14), Peter Betterley (331) and Curran (2-19) did the damage for the visitors.
Llechryd lost Cefin Evans for 17, but Michael Carter (27 not out) and Curran (25 not out) saw their side safely home.
Llechryd Seconds went down by six wickets against division four leaders Neyland 2nds at the RDM Oval.
Llechryd posted 166-6 in their allotted overs and the visitors got the runs for the loss of four wickets.
In the same division, it was plain sailing for Crymych with a ninewicket win over basement boys Haverfordwest Fourths at Glandy Cross where the visitors were bowled out for just 29.
