Tractor run honours grandad

-

A TRACTOR run was organised on July 21 in memory of Kidwelly Tractor Club member Roy Evans, who died in January.

The aim of the event was to remember Roy and to raise money for Prostate Cymru. The 25mile run started at Penybont Fields, in Trimsaran, and travelled to Llandyfaelog, Mynyddygarreg, Pontantwn, Ferryside, Kidwelly and Pinged, both on and off road.

More than 30 tractors took part and many more people came to support and to see the display of vintage machinery put on by Phil Young.

The total raised was £800, which will all go to Prostate Cymru, a charity dedicated to fight prostate cancer, procuring equipment and raising awareness of the disease.

A spokesman for the event said: “Roy’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everybody who made a donation and supported the event in any way; to Mike Evans from Kidwelly Tractor Club for organising the event; and to Phillip Young for hosting the event at his farm.

“We are exceptionally happy with the amount of money raised and are overwhelmed by the support received from family, friends and local people.
