THERE has been a major improvement at Llandysul this season.
After a disappointing time last term when they just avoided relegation, this time around the Teifi Valley side are in a lofty fifth place in division one of the South Wales Cricket Association.
In tasting success for the seventh time this year, Llandysul bagged a five-wicket win over bottom side Gowerton at Victoria Road.
Electing to bat first, the home side posted 156-9 in 50 overs as opener Lee Nicholas led the way with 41, an innings that included five boundaries. Christopher Mason contributed 28 that included three fours and a six.
Luke Swift was best of the visiting bowlers with figures of 3-33 in nine overs.
In the Llandysul reply, Gary Williams (37) and Ieuan Paske (13) made a bright opening and skipper Ben Edkins made an unbeaten 41 as the target was reached for the loss of five wickets in the 39th over.
It completed the double for the Teifi Valley side, who beat their rivals by nine wickets at Tir-Dref in May.
Llandysul host Llangennech on Saturday.
Llandysul Seconds made it a double for the club when pulling off a 66-run win over visitors Llantwit Major Cavaliers to bank 19 points.
Home openers Gareth Chapple (34) and Meurig Jones (59) got their side off on the right foot and skipper Huw Evans was unbeaten as his side reached 158-7. The Cavaliers were all out for 92.
