Rogers takes charge as Pon­ty­berem win in a hurry

PON­TY­BEREM main­tained their promotion push in di­vi­sion three with an easy win at home to Tata Steel Sec­onds.

Tata chose to bat, but they lasted just 26.2 overs as they were shot out for 68. Alun Har­ris took 4-22 and Craig Evans 4-19.

Opener Jack Rogers then blasted 51 not out from 37 balls as Pon­ty­berem rushed to 69-1 in 13.2 overs.

Dafen Sec­onds also kept in touch with the promotion places thanks to a 15-run at home to Bron­wydd Sec­onds. Dafen were all out for 193, Owain Rees the best of the bowlers with 4-45. Mike Jones (30), Jake Sharpe (33) and Owen Thomas (60) all did well in Bron­wydd’s re­ply but it wasn’t quite enough as they fell to 178 all out.

Bot­tom side Llanelli Sec­onds were well beaten by Mor­ris­ton. The Swansea hosts amassed 239-8 de­spite Daniel Lewis’s 3-25 and then skit­tled Llanelli out for 109 in 23.5 overs de­spite a bat­tling 44 from Dafydd Daniel.

In di­vi­sion four, Llan­wrda still lead the way af­ter a crush­ing 10-wicket win at home to GWR Brid­gend in Llan­dovery.

GWR made 167-7, Garan Williams tak­ing 3-37 and St­ef­fan Roberts hav­ing the re­mark­able fig­ures of 2-4 off six overs.

Llan­wrda open­ers Adrian Davies (69no) and Nigel Clarke (65no) then saw the hosts to 168-0.

Llan­gen­nech Sec­onds are in fourth place af­ter a six-wicket win at Bri­ton Ferry Steel Sec­onds.

Steel made 162-8 in their 40 overs. Opener Rob Lloyd then hit 60 and Rhys How­ells 40 as Llan eased to 1654 in 36.2 overs.

Also in di­vi­sion four, Llan­deilo (106 all out) lost by six wick­ets at Pon­tar­dawe (108-4), and Kid­welly Town (213-5, James Con­ick 61) en­joyed a 105-run win at home to bot­tom side Merthyr Tyd­fil Sec­onds.
