Young sprinters sweep the board at county match
THE annual Dyfed v West Glamorgan Inter County Primary Schools Athletics match this year was hosted by West Glamorgan at Swansea University’s athletics track, the same venue as the cross-country fixture back in April.
This friendly meeting has now become a fantastic event on the annual calendar, giving young athletes from across West Wales the chance to compete at county level.
All those who took part were picked after finishing in the top four at the respective Dyfed and West Glamorgan primary schools events in Carmarthen and Swansea in June and early July.
Events on the evening included the 100m, 70m hurdles, 800m, 4 x 100m relay, long jump, shot put and high jump, with medals awarded to the top three individuals and first two relay teams.
Dyfed youngsters won a total of 23 medals, with a clean sweep of individual awards in the 100m sprints and the relays for both boys and girls.
