LLANELLI held its first Pride event at the weekend, which was a massive success.

Organisers said they were overwhelmed with the support and have already started plans for next summer’s event.

The day included live bands, stage acts, drag queens, arts and crafts stalls, food and drinks and even holistic and psychic therapies.

The event came out of the ashes of Llanelli’s previous LGBT day organised by CETMA.

Organisers Paul Francis and Tracy Keddie said they had recognised the need for a bigger event dedicated to celebrate Llanelli’s LGBTQ+ community and diversity in the town.

Tracy said: “I have never seen an event with such a sense of community in Llanelli. That was the one thing that people kept reiterating throughout the day.”

She added: “I want to thank all the performers and entertainers who worked the event for free, and also all the volunteers, without them we wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

Tracy said the ball was now rolling for next year’s Llanelli Pride event, adding: “We have the date set for July 18 next summer and we have huge interest already from people who want to get involved.”

“A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported it this year and we will see you all again next year.”
