Women use sleight of hand trick to con village Post Office
POLICE are investigating after two women used a sleight of hand trick to con a village Post Office out of hundreds of pounds.
The incident happened at Sid’s Supermarket in Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire.
The convenience store has a incorporated the local Post Office since November 2018, since the service was moved out of the former Co-Op store.
It was in the Post Office section of the store where two women made off with an amount of cash – believed to be around £400 – on Saturday morning, July 27.
There are reports that similar tactics have been used at other locations across Carmarthenshire, but police have so far not confirmed any link between the Cross Hands incident and any others.
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are investigating the theft of money from a shop in Cross Hands.
“On July 27, at 10.15am, two women entered Sid’s Supermarket and used a slight of hand technique to confuse the cashier.
“Anyone with information that could help officers is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, either by email at contactcentre@dyfed-powys.pnn. police.uk, or by calling 101.”
