Clwb Hamdden Leisure club members met in the bancffosfe­len and Crwbin Hall on July 9. Apologies and minutes of the June meeting noted. Chairman Ann Langabeer sent best wishes to club members Gwnye Thomas, Arwyn Jones, Nan Davies and Dorothy Jones who have recently been in hospital. Heather was thanked for deputising as secretary. Unfortunat­ely the scheduled guest speaker was unable to attend. Members then took part in a fun quiz instead. The evning concluded with light refreshmen­ts, There is no meeting in August; hence thr next gathering at the hall will be on Tuesday, September 10 starting at 6.30pm.

Crwbin Silver Band Rehearsals each Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm and each Sunday from 6pm to 8pm in the Crwbin Band Room. Tai chi classes These gentle exercise sessions run by Lis Duffy at the Nantyglo Complex take place from 2pm every second and fourth Thursday of each month. Next two sessions are due on August 8 and 22. Per session fee £4 for non residents, £3 per complex resident. Classes open to all, especially for beginners and those recovering from illness. THE team at Jenkins Bakery are helping Llanelli Cricket Club by sponsoring the shirts for junior teams.

Russell Jenkins, operations director at Jenkins Bakery, said: “We like to help community groups and sporting organisati­ons where we can.

“In particular, we like to see youngsters taking part in sporting activities. We were delighted to add to our name to the shirts for Llanelli Cricket Club’s junior section.”

The shirts were officially presented at a special event at the club’s Stradey Park ground. The picture features a selection of the juniors from under-9 to under-15. Also pictured are Vaughan Thomas, club chairman, and Russell Jenkins of the Jenkins Bakery.

Litter pick The Pembrey and Burry Port Grab and Bag volunteer group will be meeting at Burry Port Harbour/Beach Yacht Club car park SN 444 003 on Friday from 10am to noon. All equipment is provided but please be sure to bring a pair of gloves. As well as cleaning up our local areas volunteers can also sign up to receive time credits. Gardening and craft show Monday at 7pm there is a pre-show meeting for members in the Community Hall, Pembrey. The Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening club are hosting their 37th annual show on Saturday, August 17 at 2pm. Admission £1.50, 50p for children. There is some free parking.There are classes for experts and novices in vegetables, flowers, fruit, wines, handicraft, floral art, photograph­y, cookery, preserves, art and children’s classes. Registrati­on for entries is on Friday, August 16 from 6pm to 8pm or the morning of the show from 8.30am to 10.30am. Registrati­on will close promptly to enable judging to begin on time.
