Double disappointment as Gorseinon are well beaten

-

GORSEINON fell to a disappointing 94-run defeat at home to leaders Swansea in division two of the South Wales Premier League.

Swansea skipper Brad Wadlan hit 80 as the visitors made 241-9 in their 50 overs, Tom Clarke taking 3-22 and Connor Barry, Kieran Howells and “Simon and young Dan Thomas bowled us to victory, which takes Scott Thomas all taking two wickets each.

But Gorseinon were soon in trouble in their reply and never looked like chasing down their target as wickets fell at regular intervals, and despite a rapid knock from captain Greg Fisher, once he was run out for us up to fourth in the table. Hopefully we can follow this up with a 46 Gors slipped to 147 all out in the 31st over. Conor Miles took 4-39 to leave Gors third from bottom.

There was no better joy for Gorseinon’s second team, who went down by 85 runs to Neath at The Gnoll in the Premier League 2nd XI West Championship. victory at home to Ammanford next Saturday.”

Gors bowled Neath out for 242 in 49.3 overs, Jamie Mann taing 4-46 and Joe Baker 3-35.

Gors then had skipper Chris Richards (57) and 34 extras to thank for taking them to a fairly respectable 157 all out in 37 overs as Adam Wassell took 4-22.
