Prince’s Trust team 25 all set for a reunion
MEMBERS of one of the Llanelli Prince’s Trust teams from the 1990s are getting together for a reunion this weekend.
The Prince’s Trust Team 25 Reunion takes place on Friday at 7pm at the Thomas Arms Hotel.
In the summer of 1993, 15 young adults from all walks of life took part in an adventure that would change their focus and direction in life for years to come.
They took part in the Princess Trust Volunteer programme based in the old Llanelli Town Hall.
As a team, they took part in a programme that aimed to give them confidence, with physical and mental team-building and problem solving skills.
One of the team members, Gethin Walters, said: ”The team members bonded strongly as Team 25.
“With experienced and skilled team leaders that guided them through a wide range of exercises and activities, they ventured into the Wilds of Wales to hike, climb, cave and camp day and night in all weathers.
“They were a part of Care in the Community projects in Llanelli and Nottingham, represented the Trust at the opening of Boeing aircraft service centre at Cardiff International Airport attended by Prince Charles, and assisted with a cabin build in Pembrey Country Park.
“A few members went further afield after the programme and headed to Camp America in New York, and spent a summer or two working with people with mental and physical disabilities.
“Over 25 years have passed since many of the team has been in touch, many now live in the four corners of the world.
“In the past year, a few members have tried to reconnect and with the possibility this summer break of getting the whole team to get together on Friday in the Thomas Arms Hotel.
“If you were in Team 25, it would be great if you could get in touch and turn up on the night,” said Mr Walters.
