National Eisteddfod Champions Crwbin Silver Band emerged victorious amid keen competitio­n to become 2nd Section Brass Band National Eisteddfod winners. The members have been flooded with congratula­tions. The musicians have acquired many awards in recent years, leading to another crowning achievemen­t. Yoga Club Participan­ts meet in the Memorial Hall each Thursday; first session from 10.30am; second session from 11.45am.

Sinfonia Cymru The National Youth Orchestra of Wales performs in the Memorial Hall on Friday, October 25, doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm performanc­e start. The guest soloist is James Crabb with his accordion adaption for orchestra. Works to be performed are by Piazzola, Vivaldi and Arvo Post. The evening’s musical repertoire gets its first outing in Manchester City’s Stoller Hall. After the Pontyberem recital the orchestra takes the works to Cardiff and then the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford-onAvon. Ticket inquiries to the hall reception desk on 01269 871075.
