Seniors bag easy victory

CARMARTHEN Golf Club Seniors claimed a 6-2 home victory over Mond Valley from Clydach.

Although a few matches were very close, captain Rhodri Davies was very pleased to emerge with a comfortable success.

Rhodri Davies and Gary Evans halved their match, Huw Rees and Meirion Griffiths won 1up, Elwyn Morgan and Clive Evans won 4&3, Ken Gealy and Wyn Thomas halved, Ray Sinden and Jimmy Crawford won 7&6, Ryan Bowen and Charles Maliphant lost one down, Bruce Morris and Hywel Morris won 1up and George Laidlaw and Peter Collins won 5&4.

The remainder of Carmarthen’s seniors played in a three clubs and a putter competition, and Martin Fink came out on top with a stableford score of 39 points.

He was followed by Dai Elias on 38, Alan Williams on 37 and in fourth was Peter Ashley Jones (36), who bettered several others courtesy of a better back nine.

This week the seniors entertain Cardigan Golf Club, while those not involved in the match play in a three-man Texas Scramble.
