-

CARMARTHEN Quins step up their preparations for the new campaign on Saturday with the first of their pre-season friendlies.

The Quins host English National League One side Moseley at Carmarthen Park. The game starts at 2.30pm.

It is the first of three friendlies Emyr Phillips’s side will play up until the end of August.

The following Thursday they host WRU Championship outfit Tata Rugby (7.15pm) and on Saturday, August 31, they again take on English National League One opposition when they make the trip to Chinnor (3pm).

The games will give Quins supporters their first chance to see their quartet of summer signings in action.

The four are spearheaded by props Ben Leung and Oliver Evans, who have moved from French side Bergerac and Bridgend respectively, while full-back Geraint Llewellyn has made the move from Tata.

There is also a welcome return to Quins colours for centre Morgan Griffiths, who has returned to the club after an injury-hit season with Cardiff.

The Quins start the new-look Indigo Premiership season on September 7 with a mouthwatering game at home to Towy Valley rivals Llandovery.

Llanelli return to action on Friday evening when they also take on Moseley at Carmarthen Park. And on August 24 they make the short trip west to face Narberth at the Lewis Lloyd Ground.

Llanelli head to Swansea in their opening Premiership contest.

Llandovery return to action on Saturday when English National League One side Cinderford head to Church Bank for a 12.30pm kickoff.

The Drovers make the trip to Llangennech the following Wednesday (7.15pm), then take on fellow Premiership outfit Aberavon in their final pre-season encounter on Thursday, August 29.

That game at the Talbot Athletic Ground starts at 7.30pm. Ben Leung, seen here playing for Llanelli, has made the move to Carmarthen Quins.
