“There is a huge appetite in Llanelli for participating in football and we want to develop further initiatives for those individuals with the Reds.”

Club secretary Stephens added: “It’s been great to see this management come together over such a short period and the ideas and plans they have are going to bring some very exciting times back to the club.”

Llanelli have enjoyed seven seasons of European football, with one campaign in the Champions League when they were knocked out in the first qualifying round by FK Ventspils of Latvia. That was despite winning the first leg 1-0 at Stebonheath.

Other highlights included beating Swedish side Gefle in the Uefa Cup in 2006, with that triumph built on a famous 2-1 victory away from home.

In the next round they battled hard at Danish side Odense before falling to a 1-0 defeat. The second leg was played at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium, but the visitors pulled back from a goal down to win 5-1.

The Reds also pulled off a stunning 1-0 win at Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in the Europa League in 2009. But they couldn’t hold off the visitors in the return at Parc y Scarlets and were knocked out 3-1 on aggregate.

New chief executive Tiffin said:

“It’s great to see the plans set out so early by the group with everyone understanding their involvement in bringing back the good times to the club.

“I’m excited to be involved and will ensure that everything from the bottom up is all as one and working together on the same goals.

“The plans are achievable but we don’t need just the support of the staff and our supporters, but also the town as a whole.”

And Garcia said: “I am greatly looking forward to working with Wayne and the team in moving Llanelli Town FC forward and achieving Wayne’s plans for the club over the next few years.”
