THE day that many of us have been waiting for is finally due to be here next week as Llanelli’s indoor hospitality businesses are set to be allowed to reopen their doors once more from Monday, May 17.

First Minister Mark Drakeford is expected to hold a press conference on Friday where he will rubber-stamp the next set of changes.

There will still be restrictions in place, with booking systems required and limits to the number of diners. But restaurants, pubs and cafés are still excited to welcome everyone back.

Ymlaen Llanelli, the town centre’s Business Improvement District (Bid), has produced pin badges with a Love Llanelli logo to help celebrate reopening, with the pins available for free with purchases at certain Llanelli town centre businesses.

Bid manager Mandy Jenkins said the scheme was about inspiring community spirit once more.

She said: “It’s been a tough few months for businesses, so we wanted to come up with something that would bring everyone together again.

“People and businesses have been really excited by the announcement on our social media.”

Christine and Dave Evans, of the Thomas Arms said: “We can’t wait to see the hotel open with our customers and guests in again. We’ve really missed that great atmosphere and seeing all our regulars to catch up with them.

“We will be opening with the same great menu and offers, so we have something for everyone, and we’ll have the same set of cleaning measures and using the Government Track and Trace for entry so that we can keep everyone safe. Customers and guests can now book online for their tables in readiness via Bookyourtable.Marstons.co.uk.”

York Palace manager Danielle Phillips said: “We are looking forward to reopening the pub. Our staff and customers have been away for a long time and we can’t wait to welcome them back. The York Palace is an important part of Llanelli’s social life.”

Daniel Davies of the Clockwork Tavern added: “We’re very excited to open the doors again, it’s been so long and we now need the support of everyone more than ever. It is a big year for sports with the Euros (football) and British and Irish Lions tour going ahead over the next few months, and with three big screens and four large TVs, where better to watch it than Clockwork Tavern?”

Anand Shivaprasad of Mizpah said: “We have new and exciting deals to offer our customers and cannot wait to welcome people back indoors.”

Christine Lackey from Llanelly House added: “The Llanelly House team are very excited to be reopening for indoor dining on May 17 with the warmest of welcomes to wonderful customers old and new and our fresh new menu. It’s a delight also to introduce new house manager Mark Johns, joining our family and bringing a wealth of experience to the business, including our amazing events and weddings.”

Andrew Marzano, of Marzano’s, said: “While we’ve been closed indoors we’ve taken the opportunity to fit new furniture, so we hope all our customers love the fresh new look. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone for a catch-up.”

Jim Bradley of new arrival Bradley’s Coffee said: “We’ve been excited to open our doors to the public since our move into Llanelli town centre earlier this year, and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us while we’ve been offering takeaways.

Rebecca Lee, of Joly’s Café added: “We are excited to reopen our doors and are equally excited to see the return of customers old and new. We are eager to show the fresh new face of Joly’s Café, which has been proudly serving Llanelli for over 20 years.”

And Julie Warner of The New Drovers said: “We are hopefully opening on May 20 at 7pm with our first pop-up kitchen in a year!

“We’re kicking off with French cuisine four courses. Booking is essential.”
