Haulage and logistics firm orders almost 80 new trucks

LLANELLIBASED Owens Group has ordered almost 80 new trucks for its South and North Wales operations.

The family-run haulage and logistics firm has been a key link for buyers and suppliers throughout the past year during the Covid-19 pandemic and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The firm has been involved in the mammoth effort to distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) to the NHS across the UK.

Drivers and other logistics staff worked long hours to ensure frontline NHS staff had adequate PPE stocks available and are fully protected at all times.

The new truck order will see 27 of the new vehicles being based out of the Owens Group Llanelli depot and 50 based at its Wrexham facility in North East Wales.

The new MAN TGX trucks will boost MAN’s presence to represent almost 50% of the

Owens Group fleet.

“MAN TGX have played a major part in our vehicle fleet for some years now,” said Eurof Owen, the company’s commercial director.

“Our MAN trucks have proved robust, reliable and extremely efficient and we’re looking forward to the new vehicles arriving. The MAN TGX’s are also a firm favourite with our drivers who appreciate the cabs’ spacious interior, the build quality and the overall driving experience.

“By adding some new creature comforts and enhancing the specification we can see these new vehicles being even more driver-friendly and welcoming.”

These latest vehicles offer Owens Group drivers a comfortable, safe and relaxing workplace, and a home-fromhome level of comfort when spending nights away.

Enhancing the vehicle specification, Owens Group has equipped the cabbed vehicles

with under-bunk fridges, comfort mattresses, satellite navigation, and MAN’s revolutionary SmartSelect which

provides the driver with a touch-free infotainment system.

Mr Owen added: “We invest

in and refresh our fleet regularly and today 90% of our vehicles are under three years old.”

Owens Group’s new fleet of 77 Man TGX’s will all wear the Owens Group’s distinctive and recognisable livery.
