House prices in county rising the fastest in Wales

FIGURES by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) analysing property transactio­ns and prices in the UK and Wales for the period March 2020 to March 2021 have just been released.

As a nation, Wales’s house prices increased by 11% in the year to March 2021, up from 8.4% in February 2021 and were growing faster than the UK annual rate of 10.2% in the year to March 2021.

In Wales, all 22 local authority areas showed an increase in average house prices to March 2021 when analysing the figures for the stated 12-month period.

Ca rma r t h e n s h i r e showed the strongest growth, rising by 22.7% to an average of £183,129 in the year to March 2021, compared to £149,193 in March 2020.

Of all property types in Wales, detached houses showed the biggest annual growth, rising by 12.4% in the year to March 2021 to £283,000. The lowest annual change of all property types was for flats and maisonette­s, with an increase of 2.4% in the year to March 2021 to £119,000.
