New rural council chairman elected
CLLR Tegwen Devichand is Llanelli Rural Council’s chairman for 2021/2022 and her consort is Cllr Stephen Donoghue.
In her incoming chairman’s speech at the council’s annual meeting, Cllr Devichand said: “I am delighted to be chairperson of Llanelli Rural Community Council.
“It is my hope that once again I will maintain the high standards of previous chairmen and represent the council in a positive and professional manner.
“I say once again because this is the second time I’ve been elected to perform the role and it is something I’m looking forward to with enthusiasm.
“I would like to thank the immediate past chairman Cllr Sharen Davies and her consort Shelley Williams for the way in which they have promoted the council over the last 24 months.
“Of course, the work of the chairman cannot be undertaken without support. I would therefore like to thank my consort (Cllr Stephen Donoghue), and Cllr Sue Lewis (and her consort Ray Thorne) for accepting the office of vice-chairman.
“Stephen and I are looking forward to working with them.
“I would like to convey my congratulations to Cllr Michael Cranham on his election as mayor to Llanelli Town Council and also to Cllr Eirwyn Williams on his election as chairman of Carmarthenshire Council.
“I look forward to working with them over the next 12 months and, of course, with other civic dignitaries from neighbouring community councils in the Llanelli area.”
