-

BRITON Ferry Town won a low-scoring contest at home to Drefach by 26 runs in division two of the South Wales Cricket Association.

Gaurav Shinde (35) and Mumtaz Hussain (35) guided them to 118 all out. Ben Mitchell took 4-24 and Harry McBryde 4-21.

Drefach found batting even more difficult and slumped to 92 all out despite 35 from Rob Seymour and 20 from Leigh Davies.

Briton Ferry Steel also featured in a low-scoring game, winning by seven wickets at bottom club Felinfoel.

The Llanelli side had only skipper Isaac Thorne (15) in double figures as they were skittled out for 61 in 24.3 overs. Jay Webb took 5-27 and Wayne Thomas 4-18.

Steel then slipped to 21-3, but 34 not out by Steffan Evans was enough to get them to 64-3 in just 12.5 overs.

In division three, Gowerton Seconds lost by 31 runs at home to Llanwrda.

The visitors could only make slow progress against the accurate opening attack of Tom Barrett (0-8) and Jack Hobbs (2-24).

Jon Lodge scored a patient 14 from 107 balls that blunted the hosts’ early bowling.

That allowed Berian Williams (45no) and captain Garan Williams (22) to provide the acceleration towards the end of their innings that saw them close on 147-8.

Luc Picton with 4-35 and 15-year-olds Hobbs and James Cable (2-35) were Gowerton’s successful bowlers.

The hosts slipped to 38-4 before the experienced Richard Harris (20) and Rhys Williams (20) re-established the innings.

However, their dismissal saw Gowerton subside to 116 all out.

Will Thurtle (3-21), Sion Nicholas (3-31) and Garan Williams (2-26) were the successful Llanwrda bowlers.

Briton Ferry Steel Seconds lead the way in division four after a 70-run win at home to Llangennech Seconds.

Steel reached 183-4, with Jack Williams taking 2-17, and then Llangennech were held to 113-9 despite Lloyd Boddington’s 33.

Rhys Phillips took 3-19 and Daryl Phillips 2-11.

Pontarddulais Thirds and Pontardawe Seconds are level at the top of division seven.

Pontarddulais (72-2) beat Margam Seconds (68 all out, Liam Jones 3-4, Mark Richards 3-8) by eight wickets.
