WEST WALES ACES CLAIM MEDAL JOY
THE 44th Welsh Inter Schools and Colleges Cross Country Championships and the 22nd edition of the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships combined into one event for the second time at Penlan Arena in Brecon.
A total of 75 Welsh secondary schools and colleges entered the fixture, which incorporated the U17/ U20 Welsh Colleges Championships.
The Welsh regions – West, South, East and North – selected teams of 15 in each of the junior, senior and master age groups in the Inter Regional Cross Country Championships.
Sixty athletes from Carmarthen Harriers and Llanelli AAC represented West Wales and their Dyfed secondary school or college.
Under-11 Girls: Lowri Morgan (6:38), Megan Evans (6:52).
Under-11 Boys: Deklan Roberts (6:09).
Under-13 Girls: Amelia Williams (9:33), Martha Morgan (10:03), Esme Lynock (10:18), Lyra Roberts (10:20) Beatrice Morgan (10:57).
Under-13 Boys: William Coles (8:19), Sam Griffiths (9:10), Jimmy Davis (9:39), Toby Anthony (10:03), Kodi Penn-O’Hare (10:56).
Under-15 Girls: Eleanor White (15:49), Carys Wood (16:09), Marged Jones (16:10), Eleanor Fuller (16:12), Mared Jones (16:13), Frances Mackie (16:55), Arianna Protheroe (18:01), Leah Regan (18:33), Keira PennO’Hare (18:57), Amelie Campion (19:42).
Under-15 Boys: Iwan Thomas (12:23), Finley Bruce (12:57), Jake Lynock (13:27), Ifan Bowen (13:30), Alex Coles (13:37), Joshua Barnett (14:13), Aron Hedd Jones (14:37), Liam Regan (15:33).
Under-17 & 20 Women: Amy Greatrick (22:09), Amy Tucker (23:40), Danielle Williams (25:50), Emily Powell (27:44).
Under-17 & 20 Men: Callum Campion (22:10), Steffan Davies (23:03), Iwan Wilson (24:13), Jack Bruce (24:30), Dominic Davies (24:21), Jack Thomas (24:33), Rogan Cox (28:22).
Representing the region in the
Senior and Master Women and Men’s races were Wendy Price, Jessica Williams, Jenny Phillips, Claire Protheroe, Helen Williams, Katherine Morgan, Lisa-Marie Penn, Claire Kearney, Rhian Bruce, Claire Kearney, Jody Williams and Lorna Powell, Cameron Young, David Keenan, Mark Harrison, Isaac Ayres, Nick Fox, Huw Davies, Peter Osborne and Anthony Heald.
Thirteen medals were won by the West Wales region individually for finishing first, second or third, matching the tally from 2019.
In addition, West Wales members were also on the podium in 13 separate team categories.
The Under-13 Girls, Master Women 55, Under-15 boys and Under-20 men all won Inter regional team gold.
Silver medals went to the Senior women, Under-17 men, Senior men, Master Men 35 and Master Men 45 age groups.
The Under-15 girls, Master Women 35, Master Women 45 and Under-13 boys returned home with bronze.
