LENNON THE HERO IN DAFEN VICTORY

-

DAFEN came up trumps 3-2 in the away clash against neighbours CK Swiss Valley as the basement clubs went head to head in the West Wales Premier League.

The difference between the teams was the influential Lennon Evans, who fired in two of the goals in helping Dafen secure maximum points. Also on target for the visitors was Sam Evans.

It was Dafen’s second league win of the season and they are now five points clear of CK Swiss Valley, who have just a draw to show from their 11 matches so far.

In the only other game played, striker Elliot Smith grabbed a hattrick in helping Mumbles Rangers to a 4-1 victory at Morriston Town. The other goal was scored by Ricky Kerr.

There were three games scheduled in the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League, but only one reached its conclusion.

A full-blooded derby between Pengelli United and visiting Gorseinon Athletic ended in a 3-3 draw.

Sam Lovell netted twice for the home team, with Luke Rees also getting his name on the scoresheet.

But Gorseinon created just as many chances, and were rewarded with goals from Louis Jackson, Mark Brandon and Tom Davies.

The clash between Seaside and Killay was abandoned after 61 minutes with Killay leading 1-0. The referee was injured and couldn’t carry on.

Killay were down to 10 men at the time and Seaside were pushing hard for an equaliser.

Bwlch Rangers failed to raise a team for their visit to Burry Port. As per league rules, Burry Port were awarded a 4-0 win and three points.

In division one, it was one-way traffic for most of the 90 minutes as FC Carmarthen strolled to a 9-1 win at home to Llandeilo Town.

Six of the goals were shared equally between James Bryan, Gavin Rees and Osian Thomas, while Marcus Bryan, Jordan Archer (penalty) and Thomas Walters also netted.

It means that Llandeilo have now gone seven league games without a win, and during that run they have conceded 41 goals.

Leaders Felinfoel eased to a 5-0 win at Llangennech. Chris James scored twice, with Jordan Badman, Tom Roberts and Lloyd Francis also finding the net.

Kidwelly Town celebrated Christmas early and brought the curtain down on the year with a thoroughly deserved 4-1 win in the Gwendraeth Valley derby at Bancffosfelen.

Striker Robert Hammond again impressed with two goals, and there was one each for Alex Kay and Jake Smith.

Pwll Athletic and Drefach shared a 3-3 draw.

Daniel Harding, Ian Williams and Darren Blake netted for Pwll. The Drefach scorers were Isaac Thomas, Jo Thomas and Jake Thomas.

Only three points separate the top three clubs in division two, and Caerbryn strengthened their claims for the title with an impressive 4-1 win at Penllergaer.

Although every player did his bit, striker Lewis Rees stole the show with all four goals for the visitors.

Another striker on top form was Hans Singh, his four goals helping Dafen Reserves to a 10-4 away win against CP Suburbs. There was a hattrick for Ryan Davies, two for Kieran Brown and one for Callum Letheren.

Despite a couple of well-taken goals by Cameron Jones, plus one from Steffan Phillips, Carmarthen United had to settle for a point in the 3-3 draw at home to KRUF, who remain one point above their opponents in 11th place in the table.

West End United beat Ammanford Town A 5-1. James Doel and Morgan Kearney both scored two, with Stuart Hemingway also on target.

Ammanford’s scorer was Lewis Trotman.

In the best of the action in reserve division one, there was some early cheer for bottom-of-the-table Trallwm in their 2-1 win at home to Drefach Reserves.

Rhys Watson was the hero with both goals for Trallwm.

Burry Port Reserves won 7-0 at Killay Reserves. Steven Summerfield, Charlie Taylor, Dean Thomas, Ross McFarlane, Josh Element and Dan James all scored, while there was also an own goal.

In reserve division three, Burry Port A and Pwll Athletic Reserves shared a 3-3 draw.

The Burry Port scorers were Gareth Davies, Joe Pulman and Aaron Bockman.
