MATCHROOM Reds were convincing 6-1 winners at Llanesco in the first division of the Llanelli Snooker League.

The highlight was a lovely 108 break from Matchroom cueman Dan Wells.

P. Williams, R. Evans, B. Newcombe and C. Price added frame wins. Steve Thomas prevented a dreaded whitewash.

Llanelli Cons A claimed a 5-2 victory against Matchroom Blacks with M. Rees, M. Moore, K. Moore and H. Jones on the ball. L. Grey and J. Bullen hit back for the visitors.

There was also a 5-2 success for Burry Port Reading Room Blues as they defeated Pontyberem Workmen’s courtesy of L. Jones, S. Greaney,

Peter Kelly and Adrian Gower. K. Evans and E. Bowen replied.

It required the aggregate point to separate the sides at Gorseinon Workmen’s, where the Brighton Road side edged a 4-3 win against Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s A thanks to Jonny Wilcox, J. Davies and Charlie Bolton (42 break, 34 clearance).

K. Sullivan, Keri Davies and Steve Davies won for the Bont side.

L. Lloyd and M. Stevenson were on song for Llanesco, beaten 5-2 by Burry Port Legion. For the latter, Rob Davies, Dean Thomas, Rich Nurse and Rob Davies claimed frame wins.

Rob Hughes made an excellent break of 69 as Morfa Social won 4-3 at Ponthenri Social. G. Lewis and N. Hughes also won for Morfa. Ponthenri’s winning trio were Mark Regola, Stephen Rees and Howard Thomas.

In division two, Bryn & Trallwm B convincing­ly overcame New Lodge 6-1 after Aaron Cruickshan­k, Josh Frater, Kurtis Myhill, E. Anderson and K. Williams had all won. Andrew John won for Lodge.

Paul Garritty was Tycroes RFC’s solitary point-winner in a 6-1 defeat at Matchroom Blacks.

For the Llanelli side, Rhys Morgan, Adrian Davies, Rhys Maides, Les Griffiths and Thomas Williams all won.

It was closer at Snooker World Blues, who edged home 4-3 against Cross Hands A after wins from Peter Howatson, Callum

Fuge and Linden Cox.

Jeff Howells, Adam Rees and Howell Pritchard replied.

Pontarddul­ais Cons B won 5-2 at CGMD following wins from Geraint Thomas, Mark Aberstraw, Tony Shadrach and Will Shadrach. James Varney and Matthew Jones won for the Fishermen’s.

Justin Jones and C. Richards were Bryn A’s frame-winners in a 5-2 loss at Llandybie RFC, for whom S. Crump, J. Jordan, Sion Isaac and K. James struck.

Upper Tumble Reds came from 3-0 down to eventually win 4-3 against Llandybie Social B courtesy of S. Marshall, Mike Sainty and R. Williams.

J. Poole, Peter Watkins and Steve Pearson won for Llandybie.
