LIAM’S TREBLE LIFTS PONTLLIW

-

PONTLLIW boosted their chances of claiming the runners-up spot in the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League following a hard-earned 3-1 win at Killay.

A hat-trick from striker Liam McCann was enough to secure maximum points.

Trallwm failed to raise a team for the home game against Burry Port, who were awarded a 4-0 win and three points.

After being crowned division one champions the previous week, Felinfoel suffered their first league defeat at home this season when going down 3-2 against Camford Sports.

And it was a thoroughly deserved three points for Camford, who took control thanks to two well-taken goals by Rhys Thomas.

Also on target was Jordan Thomas, and at half-time it was 2-0 in favour of Camford.

In another tight contest, Llandovery came from 2-0 behind at the break to beat visiting Kidwelly Town 4-3.

The Llandovery goals were shared equally between Mark Dyer and Chris Hyde, while the fightback was sparked by the brilliance of Scott Price, with three of the assists.

Striker Craig Frater was another player on form, but his four goals were in vain as Llangennech lost 6-4 in the clash at Pwll Athletic.

It was frustrating for Frater to watch as Ian Williams and Darren Blakey hit back with match-winning hat-tricks for Pwll.

Dafen Reserves are the division two champions after a 21-0 win at Hendy.

Rhys Winnet scored seven of the goals, with Keiran Brown and Hans Singh both bagging four. Ryan Davies and Connor Halliday bagged braces and William Buckingham and Steff Kingdon scored one each.

Striker James Doel capped an outstanding performance with a hattrick for West End United, who stay third in the division two table following an 8-0 win at Pontarddulais Town Reserves.

It was one way traffic for most of the 90 minutes. Callum Howell and Rhys Ashley-Blakeway helped the visitors pull clear with a couple of goals each. Prolific scorer Stuart Hemingway had to be satisfied with just the one.

Carmarthen United failed to raise a team for the visit to Caerbryn, who were awarded a 4-0 win and three points.

Trostre AFC completed their league programme on a high with a comfortable 5-2 win at home to Drefach in reserve division one.

Striker Elliot Lloyd netted a hattrick, which proved the difference between the teams. There were also goals for Trostre duo David Bastiman and Jonny Thomas.

There is no change at the top, and Pontlliw Reserves set up a possible title decider with Loughor Rovers Reserves after a 2-1 win at home to Burry Port Reserves.

Both the Pontlliw goals were scored by Dan Phillips, while Dean Thomas replied.

In the only game in reserve division two, a hat-trick from Matthew Davies helped leaders Dafen A edge a 4-3 win against visiting Pontarddulais Town A.

Stephen Evans also found the back of the net.

Kidwelly Reserves failed to raise a team for the home clash against Llangennech Reserves, who were awarded a 4-0 win and three points.

Reserve division three leaders Bwlch Rangers suffered an unexpected hiccup to their title bid when failing to raise a team for the visit to CK

Swiss Valley A. As per league rules, the home team were awarded the points and a 4-0 win.

Give Joe Pulman a sniff of goal and he doesn’t miss many, grabbing four for Burry Port A in a 7-1 win at neighbours Pembrey Reserves. Darren Pulman scored two and Gareth Waters the other one.

It was a disappointing day for the Carmarthenshire League clubs in the West Wales Premier League as all three lost.

Evans & Williams started the home game against Morriston Town brightly enough, taking the lead in the 17th minute through Matthew Williams.

For the rest of the game it was the visitors who enjoyed most of the possession, and it came as no surprise when Scott Deakin equalised from an assist by Adam Palmer in the 40th minute.

And on the hour a goal by Brandon Davies edged Morriston ahead for the first time, before Deakin scored a second on 70 minutes.

Dafen were in action against visiting Mumbles Rangers, for whom Elliot Smith netted both goals in a 2-1 win. Veteran Stephen Evans scored for the home team.

Seven Sisters Onllwyn were awarded two penalties, both converted by Jack Owen, in their 3-2 win at South Gower.

Adam Campbell added his name on to the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Trostre will visit South Gower in the quarter-final of the West Wales Intermediate Cup. St Clears head to Seven Sisters Onllwyn.

The other ties see Hakin United host Penlan Club and Rockspur entertain Plough Colts.
