Cruyff Court Penyfan Project Recently representatives from a wide range of community groups and organisations were invited to sign the Cruyff Court Social Agreement at the Llanelli Town Council offices. Construction works are progressing well in Penyfan Park; during this time both the current MUGA pitch and basketball court will be taken out of use and removed. Fairground This Friday and Saturday the village park hosts the ever-popular travelling fairground.
Storm disruption A large number of dwellings in the south of Pontyberem suffered power cuts during the penultimate weekend of February due to the high winds wrought by Storm Eunice. Trees were blown down and slates blown off the Memorial Hall roof, causing water to enter at various points including the theatre stage area. A clean-up and repairs have been undertaken.
Council elections countdown On Thursday, May 5, county and community council elections take place for Carmarthenshire and Pontyberem councils. Application forms are now available for the one county council seat for Pontyberem, while there are 12 seats for election to Pontyberem Council. Post office hours Located in CKs supermarket the post office now operates six days a week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm and is closed on Sunday.
Chemist times Monday to Friday trading hours of the local pharmacy are 9am to 1pm and 2.00pm to 5.30pm. Inside the store there is a maximum of two customers at any one time.
Library hours The local library in the Memorial Hall operates on Mondays from 3pm to 7pm and on Thursdays from 9.30am to 1.30pm. There is a free internet service, DVDs and audio books for hire. Inquiries during library times can be made to Anja on 01269 870891.
Digital aid Age Cymru Dyfed offers people aged 50-plus hands-on help to introduce and develop the use of digital technology. Through free telephone sessions, often led by Haroun Varden, help is given through tasks enabling older users to be comfortable with digital links. Welsh Wrestling In Neuadd y Tymbl on Friday, March 18, at 7pm is an evening of Welsh Wrestling, which, according to its website, is live sports, family-orientated, entertainment. The wrestling is said to be a hybrid of American wrestling and traditional British wrestling. Tickets can be ordered online.
Library service The mobile library is in the car park opposite the hall on Tuesdays from 1.45pm to 4pm. You can request any item available in any of the public libraries in Carmarthenshire. Order from the online catalogue or ask the mobile library staff. You will be notified when the item is available for collection from either the mobile library or from another library of your choice.
