Pontyberem Workmen’s win well at valley rivals

PONTYBEREM Workmen’s earned an useful 5-2 victory on the road at Trimsaran in the latest Llanelli Snooker League first division fixtures.

Kevin Selwood (44 break), Kieran Evans (40), Shaun Caton and Emyr Bowen won for the visitors, with Wayne Thomas and Kieran Proctor replying for the hosts.

Llanelli Cons A went one better, defeating Morfa 6-1, thanks to Mark Sargent, Dean Bowen, Keith Moore, Hefyn Jones and Mike Rees. Andrew Hatto’s win prevented a whitewash.

The highlight of Snooker World Whites’ 6-1 success over Matchroom Whites was a fine 79 break by Jamie Gimblett. Team -mates Anthony Krysa, Callum Jackson, Tim Walters and John Meadows also won, with only Leighton Davies nicking a win for the Whites.

Corey Rees and Dale Bohn were Llanesco’s winning duo in a 5-2 defeat against Reading Room Blues. Craig Jones, Adrian Gower, Peter Kelly and Neil Roberts won for the Burry Port cuemen.

Adrian Phillips, Dai Isaac, Mal Jones and Alex Dickie gave Cross Hands B a 5-2 win against Upper Tumble Blues, who hit back via James Bradley and Chris Bishop.

It needed the aggregate point to give Burry Port Legion a 4-3 win at Gorseinon Workmen’s A after Keri Phillips, Dean Thomas and Garnet Lane had won. Johnny Wilcox,Charlie Bolton and Mike Dodd replied.

In division two, the Gremlin Club enjoyed the best win of the week with a 7-0 thumping of New Lodge B, Kev Gronow, Matthew Dagnell,Gavin Stollery (21), Lee Collins, Jason Edwards and Roy Barney all successful.

Steffan Crump (37 break), Sion Isaac, Callum Isaac and Joshua Jordan gave Llandybie Rugby Club a 5-2 success against Cross Hands A, for whom Gerald Evans and Howell Pritchard won.

There was a 5-2 win too for Upper Tumble Reds as Nolan Allison, Mike Sainty, Richard Williams and Kevin Evans won against Snooker World Blues, Steff Rees and Peter Howatson hit back.

Tycroes RFC took two frames via Stuart Williams and Mark Walters in going down 5-2 at Burry Port Reading Room Reds, for whom Phil Payne, Christian Evans, Chris Hurley and John Dean were on top.

Elliott Anderson, Kris Williams and Kurtis Mayhill won for Bryn & Trallwm B who edged a 4-3 victory against Pontarddul­ais Cons B. Geraint Thomas, David Gabe and Mark Aberstraw replied.

In the Knockout Cup, Morfa progressed with a narrow 4-3 victory against Llanelli Cons A.
