HARRIERS ENJOY HOME COMFORTS
PEMBREY Country Park was the venue for the 11th George Crump MBE Welsh Athletics Cross Country Championships.
It was the third time in a row the venue had staged the event.
The fixture was back on the calendar for the first time in two years and clubs across West, South, East and North Wales were represented.
On a demanding course that showcased the park and the surrounding areas, more than 500 competitors tackled fast grass sections, sand dunes, woods and paths.
Carmarthen Harriers’ under-15 boys dominated the team event as the A and B teams finished on the podium in first and third positions.
There were also silver medals for the under-15 girls’ quartet.
William Coles (under-13 boys), Iwan Thomas (under-15 boys), Dafydd Jones (under-20 men), Wendy Price (master women 40) and Llanelli AC’s Alan Davies (master men 65) all became 2022 Welsh champions in their categories.
Finley Bruce made it a 1-2 finish in the individual event behind Thomas.

On March 26, Pembrey Country Park hosts the end-of-season SIAB Schools Cross Country International 2022. The fixture sees teams from Wales, England, Ireland and Scotland compete in the junior and middle age groups.
It will also incorporate mixed 4x1500m relays and a primary schools challenge.
