SEASIDE FIRE IN SIX OF THE BEST

-

SIXHITTING Seaside were in top form in the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League’s Senior Cup.

Seaside started the stronger in the home game against Group D rivals Pwll Athletic, edging ahead in the 10th minute through Leon Banifacio.

It was the only goal in the opening half, and Seaside had to wait until the 50th minute to double their lead courtesy of Jordan Cooper.

The same player scored again on the hour, but sandwiched in between was a goal for Pwll star Ian Williams.

Any thoughts of a fightback were soon dashed, Seaside pulling clear for a 6-1 win thanks to Jay Evans in the 70th minute, Ben Honeybun in the 78th minute and Ross Jones shortly after.

Llandovery Town made the best possible start to their Senior Cup campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win at Penllergaer in Group B.

Playing their first game for a month, the visitors were quickly into their stride, eventually taking control thanks to a well-taken hat-trick by Chris Hyde. His second goal was from the penalty spot.

Also on target was Scott Price, with the influential Mark Dyer being involved in two assists.

The programme was badly affected by the weather, and a number of games were called off because of waterlogged grounds.

There were no games played in the top two divisions of the league, while Pwll Athletic Reserves and Tumble United Reserves failed to raise enough players to fulfil their fixtures in the Darch Cup. As per rules, opponents Trostre AFC Reserves and Llangennech Reserves were awarded 4-0 wins and three points.

In a Group A game, Curtis Evans scored both goals for Felinfoel Reserves in the 2-0 win at Johnstown Reserves.

Also in Group A, a couple of goals by Mark Beardsley helped Burry Port Reserves defeat neighbours Pembrey Reserves 4-0 on their own ground. There were also goals for Jamie Fleming and Jaden Jacob.

In the best of the action in division two, a couple of goals by striker Stewart Hemingway was only good enough to earn West End United a point in the 2-2 draw at home to Dafen Reserves.

Dafen hit back through Will Cunningham and a Kieran Brown penalty.

In one of two games played in reserve division three, Dan Thomas scored twice for FC Carmarthen in a 6-0 win at Bancffosfelen.

And the visitors pulled clear thanks to four more goals from Ashley Williams, Lewis Byng, Josh Kelly and Robert Maynard.

There was action in the inaugural West Wales Premier League Cup, and through to the semi-finals after a 5-0 win away to Pontarddulais Town are Evans & Williams.

After taking an early lead through Chris Brown, a goal from Bruno Forkuoh doubled the advantage by half-time.

When Mark Howells made it 3-0 soon after the restart it was all over as a contest.

There were also two ties in the first round of the competition, and a couple of goals by Nathan Lewis helped Penlan Club to a 3-1 win at home to Cwm Wanderers. A third was scored by Sam Lewis.

Giants Grave cruised to a 3-0 win in the away tie against South Gower. Ryan Griffiths scored two and there was an own goal.

Dafen collected maximum points in the only game played in the West Wales Premier League, Elliot Jones netting twice in the 2-0 win at Morriston Town.

Off the field, the draw has been made for the semi-finals of the prestigious West Wales Intermediate Cup.

Flying the flag for the Carmarthenshire League are Trostre AFC, who have been drawn against Swansea Senior League division one title contenders Rockspur.

The game will take place at Garden Village on Wednesday, March 23 (7.30pm).

Bridge Meadow in Haverfordwest is the venue for the first of the semifinals between Hakin United and Seven Sisters Onllwyn.

It is close to being a home tie for Hakin, who will start as favourites following their stunning 4-0 win against Penlan Club in the previous round.
